About the production 작품에 대하여

A scratch night of two new English-language plays written and directed by Hyojung Jung — Nangman Theatre's first scripted work created and performed in the UK. Staged as reading performances in an intimate studio in Hackney Wick, the evening continued the company's practice of adapting lived experience into music-drama-style storytelling, here exploring migration, identity, and generational complexity across Korean and European lives.

The performances were followed by an open conversation with the audience, inviting responses that will shape the plays' further development.

정효정이 쓰고 연출한 영어 신작 희곡 두 편의 스크래치 공연. 낭만씨어터가 영국에서 직접 창작하고 공연한 첫 작품으로, 런던 해크니윅의 소극장 스튜디오에서 낭독공연 형식으로 올렸다. 이주와 정체성, 세대를 가로지르는 상처를 한국과 유럽의 삶을 통해 탐구한다.

공연 후에는 관객과의 대화가 이어졌으며, 이날의 피드백은 작품의 후속 개발에 반영된다.

Letting Go of the Gold Rim 〈렛팅 고 오브 더 골드 림〉

Luna, after eight years as a stage actress in Korea, confronts the trauma and beauty standards that shaped her. In the UK, she finally begins to reflect, heal, and reclaim her own voice.

한국에서 8년간 무대에 선 배우 루나는 자신을 만들어온 트라우마와 외모 기준을 마주한다. 영국에서 그녀는 비로소 돌아보고, 치유하고, 자신의 목소리를 되찾기 시작한다.

Go-Ma-Woe 〈고마워〉 — 'thank you' in Korean

After nearly eight years apart, siblings Yuri and Leo reunite in London for Christmas. As they reconnect with their Korean mother and Spanish father, old wounds resurface — revealing how trauma can pass from one generation to the next.

거의 8년 만에 남매 유리와 레오가 크리스마스를 맞아 런던에서 재회한다. 한국인 엄마, 스페인인 아빠와 다시 마주하면서 오래된 상처가 떠오르고 — 트라우마가 어떻게 한 세대에서 다음 세대로 이어지는지 드러난다.
